Cold Start Marathon

Description: Today the battle started early. i need to leave home later for my gym class, and since i know my cars and the weather is cold, i decided to try starting them early in the morning to warm up the engines and make things easier later when i needed to leave the house. at this point, i was just hoping at least one of them would work properly today. i started with the vw voyage, but it gave absolutely no sign of life. i did my best and kept trying as much as i could until the battery finally died. for a moment, i even thought something had broken. my husband put the battery to charge while i moved on to the opala, and the exact same thing happened. no sign of life until the battery died too. what a nightmare. old cars and cold weather really don’t get along. then i went to the ford, and this time it finally started after struggling badly and shutting off a few times. okay, progress. now i just needed to see if the vw bus would cooperate too. the kombi was easier. the engine was running a little rough, but it started pretty quickly. after all those attempts, i noticed the voyage battery had charged a little, so i decided to try again. and guess what? it still refused to start and the battery died once again. well, there was nothing else i could do. i went back home and left both the opala and the voyage charging so i could try again later. i don’t give up easily. by the end of the day, i decided to try once more with the batteries fully charged. the weather had warmed up a little by then, and i think that helped me. this time i managed to get both cars running. now i’m finally satisfied.
